translucent in Publisher?

I am trying to build a color poster and I have a jungle background under the
white type. I need to add a translucent color between the b ackground and the
type so that the copy is easier to read. Does anyone know how to make the
color background translucent?

(I have to admit that any graphics editing that I need to do is done in a
graphics editing program then inserted into my Publisher file.)

Which version of Publisher are you using?
