trouble installing office 2000 upgrade SR-1 with XP and Works Suite 2002

I have windows XP and the computer came with Works Suite
2002 installed. I am trying to install Office 2000 from
an upgrade disk (SR-1). After i type in the product key,
I get a message saying that the installer can't find a
qualifying product for the upgrade. What is wrong here?

It's looking for your previous qualifying product for Office 2000:

Works will not qualify as your version is from 2002. It needs to be a
PREVIOUS version, ie one that came out BEFORE Office 2000 was released.

Having simular problem. It does not recognize Works as a
program to upgrade from. I had to format the hard drive
and now I can't install the upgrade. I installed Works
but it will not recognize it. Watch for response to me
(tcbarrett@aol)maybe some one can tell us both.
