Hello Clutch,
If you know for a fact that the Normal.dot file is corrupted your best bet
is to delete the file and then open Word. The Normal.dot file will be
recreated. The button may not be available because Normal.dot may be in use
if Word or Outlook is opened. If you want to troubleshoot the template you
can change the name to Normal.DOC and then open normally in Word or Open
and Repair if you have Word 2002 or 2003. When corrected you can close Word
and Outlook and Replace the current file with the repaired one.
