Have corrupted Normal.dot file and cannot get
the "Troubleshoot Utility" button to work in order to
disable said file. Anyone know why the button isn't
active or can someone suggest a work-around.

Hello Clutch,

If you know for a fact that the Normal.dot file is corrupted your best bet
is to delete the file and then open Word. The Normal.dot file will be
recreated. The button may not be available because Normal.dot may be in use
if Word or Outlook is opened. If you want to troubleshoot the template you
can change the name to Normal.DOC and then open normally in Word or Open
and Repair if you have Word 2002 or 2003. When corrected you can close Word
and Outlook and Replace the current file with the repaired one.

I hope this helps

We never recommend that users *delete* Normal.dot, as this could cause them
to lose years of customizations, many of which can be retrieved using the
Organizer if they merely *rename* Normal.dot (and of course, if it proves
that a new Normal.dot does not solve the problem, whose cause lies
elsewhere, then Normal.old can be renamed back to Normal.dot, thereby
restoring all customizations.
