Trying to count returned cells from a filter

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Power PC

I need to count the number of returned cells from an auto filter, but counta is returning the total number of cells in the column prior to the filter.
I am using a filteron two columns with criteria from both columns used to return the desired cells.

Sounds like you need to be introduced to the List Manager & its Total Row

Look in help for subtotal. That will give a count of visible cells.
