Two resource columns/ Two resources

I have created two Resource columns (By/Approval) - one designed for those
responsible for the task and the other for those responsible for approving
it. However, it seems that I am unable to use different resources in these
two different columns. When I enter a resource initial/name in the "By"
column, MS Project automatically adds same initial/name into the second
(Approval) column even though a different resource is responsible for
approving the task. I wonder if there is a way to solve this problem.

Thanks

Hi Dajana,

Are the two columns you created (By & Approval) both the [Resource Name]
field? If so, they will both show the same data, regardless of how you title
them.

If the resource responsible for Approval does not perform any actual work on
the task, you may want to insert the [Contact] field and use that for the
Approval resource. The [Contact] field will not be used for the calculation
of work.
If you need to track the work for the Approval resource but want that
resource to show up separately, I would create two tasks, one showing the
task to be performed and then a separate task (with a appropriate link) for
the approval. Each resource would then be assigned to their specific task
responsibility.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Julie
