Two versions of Publisher on same computer not working

I need to have Publisher 2002 and Publisher 2000 on my
computer. They are both installed but I can only access
the most recently installed one. I have both so I can
backsave and pass the backsaved file onto another
computer that only has 2000. I also need 2000 as it is
compatible for 'copying and paste special' items into
Corel Draw. This doesn't work between Publisher 2002 and
Corel.

John there are no issues running all the different versions of Publisher on
your computer.

They must be installed in different folders.

The order they are installed is important depending on the version of
Windows you are using.
What version of Windows are you using?

Are you getting any error messages when you try and start the other version?

I am using Windows XP Professional.
When I go to the Start menu to select Publisher only the
most recently installed appears. I can't even find the
other one to try to open it.

John go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office and you should find the EXE
files for both versions around there. Right click on the EXE and select to
make a Shortcut. Then copy the Shortcut to your Start Menu or Desktop.

As the Publisher shortcuts are probably named the same, the one is
overwriting the other.

John, I am using Win XP Pro and have 2000 and 2002 both installed - and
functional. I did notice that one of them (please don't ask me which) didn't
add an icon or a shortcut (don't ask me that either), so I added it manually
and made sure they are named Publisher 2000 and Publisher 2002. I prefer
desktop icons myself but there are times when I'll use the Start menu.

The only time you may have an issue is if you have the 2002 version set in
your file associations and you want 2000. For that reason, I don't usually
double click on a file name and let Publisher whatever open it. I open the
version of Publisher I want to use and then browse for the file. Everyone
will have their own way of handling things - this is
what works *for me*.

Thanks for your input. I have followed your advice and
now have both versions accesible in the way you said.
However there is still an issue. I can build new jobs in
Publisher 2000 but it cannot open any existing 2000 job
on my computer. It gives an error message
saying 'Microsoft® Publisher 2000 Version 6.0 has
encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry
for the inconvenience."

John what is the error message?

Is the Publisher 2000 version part of an Office Suite CD, or is it a stand
alone CD and jewel case of Publisher?

It is a stand alone jewel case

That will then be a video driver issue - guaranteed.

Try starting in Safe Mode and see if you get the same problem.
