Ugraded to XP, Lost Word access

I had ME with Office 2000 until recently. Since I installed XP, I have been
unable to use Word. When I try to open Word, it tries to install XP Pro
w/Front Page, and asks for CD.

We have misplaced CD for Office 2000---

Suggestions to solve this? Do I need to uninstall XP?
Thanks

Apparently you did not do a clean reformat, you just dumped XP on top of
whatever OS you had. Ideally, you should have backed everything up, wiped
your system clean, and then reinstall everything. But hindsight is 20/20.

You're going to need that disk. If you're in the US, I'd suggest you take
advantage of the holiday tomorrow and spend it looking for your CD.

hmmmm...how can it want to install XP Pro with FrontPage? ... that makes no
sense.

Thanks all--Will continue to look for CD, but have moved twice. Not giving
up though.

As I mentioned, bought XP to upgrade ME---and I followed the manual's quick
upgrade instructions vs. new installation so it would save my files. I
didn't see anything about "wiping system clean."---not that I would have been
capable of doing that anyway.

As for it wanting to install Front Page, I saw that on another discussion
thread--a person upgrading from 98. The solutions recommended of a new
shortcut didn't work for me, and not sure they worked for him.

Do I still have the option of uninstalling XP, and going back to my previous
life?
thanks again...
Thanks again.
