Unable to access data in a linked tables -- protected by a passwor

I am using Access 2003, SP1. The databases are saved in the Access 2000
format.

There are two databases, db X and db Y. Both are protected by a password.
A few tables are linked between the databases. If I open a form in the db X,
the data from db Y are not displayed. I get an error message, invalid
password.

I opened both db X and db Y, but still unable to see the data in db X from
db Y.

I tried to have a same password for both databases. No luck!

When I remove the password from db Y only, I can see the data from db Y in
the db X.

What do I need to do so that both databases can be protected by a password
and display correct results?
