Unable to load graphics file

I had a hard drive "repair" and re-loaded Publisher 2000.
Now the program won't let me insert .jpgs (or any other
graphics file) -- I get an error message saying it can't
convert them. I've tried to re-install from the CD,
including the graphics section, but to no avail. Any ideas?

Ack! Now you've lost me. I'm not that great with Windows
stuff.

Can you explain this a different way?

Thanks :)

Open this file
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Grphflt
This is the folder with all the graphics filters. Each filter has the .flt extension.
Change the troublesome filter to .old i.e. from jpegim32.flt to jpegim32.old. From
your setup disk, drag a new instance of jpegim32.flt to the folder.

Okay, we're getting closer. But how will I know which is
the "troublesome filter?"

Thanks!

Wouldn't hurt to delete them all and then re-add them all.

None of the filters in that folder have file extensions. I
run Win2000. I can't remember how to change my settings so
file extensions show, and I'm afraid to change them in
case I can't reload them all -- also, some are PageMaker
filters. I don't also replace those, do I?

Sorry to be such a pain, but I've never encountered
anything like this.

On the toolbar, view, choose details. This will allow you to see the flt filter
extension.

Yes, that's right.

Okay, I did that ... then changed all the .flts
to ".old" ... then from the CD, moved over (from the
graphics folder) everything with an .flt extension.

Still doesn't work.

Might there be something in my Windows configuration
that's causing this?

Grrr ... I could shoot the "repair" guy who last worked on
this machine.
