keep losing my graphics

Hello, I have a re-ocurring problem with publisher 2003 SP2. I am
modifying a file that was created with an earlier version. I have been
adding graphics to existing and new pages. Sometimes when I open the
saved file, I lose all of the graphics that have been inserted into
the file. I can still see the graphics box, but the graphics manager
says that it is empty. I am curious if it is the way it is being
saved.

These are the save options:

save as:
Publisher Files
Publisher Template
Publisher 98 Files
Publisher 2000 Files
Unicode Text Files
PostScript

Please help!!

Ok, I tried that, but am I supposed to get my graphics back? I didn't.
The graphics manager isn't even showing that there is a graphic, ...
just a box. The properties for the graphic are all default now. I
cropped several of the pictures, but that doesn't show up now. It's
like I place a bunch of empty boxes. I would think if it was a problem
with the video driver, I wouldn't see the graphic, but the properties
would still be there.

View, Pictures, Detailed display.

If that doesn't work, try a detect and repair.

That doesn't seem to work either. Any other suggestions??

Are you using the most recent video driver from
the support website of your graphics adapter's mfg.?

Shapes? These types of objects do not show up in the Graphics Manager
The graphic is being used as a picture fill for either a text frame or a
Publisher drawing object.
The graphic was created by using the Publisher drawing tools, or the graphic was
imported and then ungrouped.

Are you certain your pictures are embedded and not linked?
Original picture information is lost or changed when you insert a linked picture
in Publisher 2007 and in Publisher 2003

Have you tried to re-insert the pictures? You say you are working with an older
version publication, could be the images are corrupt or they could have been
pasted originally...

Originally, I started to edit an existing file. Most of the pictures
were already there. I added some pictures and text using the insert
picture from file method. After saving and re-opening the next day, I
had lost all of the old images but still had the ones that I had just
added. I replaced all of those pictures using the graphics Manager by
clicking on the empty picture in the Graphics Manager and selecting
replace picture. After saving and re-opening the next day, now they
are all gone. I am using windows metafile images.
