unable to open default mail folders

using outlook 97, WinNT4 and Backoffice. the PC has been
disconnected from the network and cannot open outlook
without getting "unable to open your default folders. the
information store could not be opened.". how can i resolve
this without connecting to the network (as the network
doesnt have any relevant folders on it). tried a few
things but also got MS exchange server unavailable message.
