Unable to open embedded object in word document

Hello All:

Please help! I am having trouble to open the embedded object from excel in
the word document. If I double clicked on the object, it would prompted me
with the following message:

"Microsoft Office Word can't start the application required to open this
object.
an error occurred and this feature is no longer functioning properly. Would
you like to repair this feature now?"

If I clicked yes, it would prompted me with another message:

"This object is corrupt or is no longer available."

I greately appreciated anyone's help.

What happend if my office doesn't use Symantec/Norton AntiVirus? We use
McAfee VirusScan. I have been trying to work with our IT department, but i
still didn't have it work so far (sigh).

It is the same the problem every time the prompt appears if i click "yes".
I will get a window installer screen and it starts to run the installing
components for microsoft office in word. It usually runs for a few second,
and then i will get this error message again that telling me "This object is
corrupt or is no longer available." I am so desperate and really don't know
what to tell my clients.

Your error message would seem to indicate the needed program is there,
but Windows cannot find space to run it in.

Since the "Norton Hooks" suggestion ( a good one) does not apply to
you, and you probably don't know the parallel in McAfee VirusScan
( you could contact them and ask or rummage on their web site or via
google), try some general housekeeping:

A possible long shot - try closing everything on your desktop, and
exiting everything you can that is running at the right end of the
taskbar at the bottom of your screen. Then try running your document
again. If things get better, you had a shortage of system resources -
possibly just RAM, but there are other bottlenecks in Windows as
well. I found that especially Office 2007 wants at least 1GB of RAM
and prefers 2GB, but that may not be the only choke point.

Once you have run this test, make sure you turn your Anti-virus and
firewall back on!

There are some other options that include using a diagnostic mode in
MSCONFIG, but I would suggest asking your local IT help to look into
that. Good Luck.
