Unable to take ownership of project

We have a couple of projects in our system that we have been unable to
transfer project owners. When we click "Republish" a dialogue box appears
that says "An update has not been sent to resources who have been removed
from tasks assignments. An update will be sent now."

We click OK to proceed and nothing else happens. I just get a feeling I'm
missing something simple. Thanks in advance.

Hello John,

You can change the project owner without republishing from PWA as an
administrator.

Log in, goto the Project Center, select the project you want to change by
clicking on
the left most column (project selector), then select edit at the top of the
project list.
On the Edit window change the project owner and save.

This will allow the new owner to open the project in Project Professional.

It will probably NOT fix your publishing problem...

Hey Bob,

Thanks for the response. We have gone in to PWA and changed project owners
that way before. However, on one particular project this has no effect. The
result is that we are still unable to perform Project Approvals for this
project and therefore no progression, actual work, actual costs, etc. Makes
project monitoring very difficult. Any suggestions besides rebuilding from
scratch?

Thanks,

John -

Go into Project > Collaboration > Publish > Republish Assignments.
Select the entire project and at the bottom of the dialog box, check
the "Become the manager for these assignments" checkbox.

Any pending and all future time updates will go to the person who does
this. That person needs to have PM rights and needs to be assigned to
the project so they can see it to open it.

Hope this helps,

Mark,

That is the problem select entire project or not. I can never get to the
popup that allows me to check the box and "become the manager". See my first
message. I click OK and then nothing. It's like it is waiting for me to do
something else before I can become the manager. Even with full admin rights.
We have over 200 large projects in our system and this is the only one that
is behaving this way. I guess there's always one stubborn one in the bunch.
