unavailable word files

hi guys

just reinstalled windows xp and ofiice 2003 professional on my computer but
when i try and open my word files, word says that document is unavailible.
This happens to all word files on my computer.

any help please???

If you are running Norton AntiVirus, disable its Office Plug-in.

i am not running norton antivirus. when i close word it asks me if i want to
save changes to normal.dot. it then says changes have been made to the global
template, Normal.dot and asks if i want to save the changes
