I have Outlook 2002 setup with an Imap account and an LDAP directory server.
There are two .pst files - one for the local personal folders named
outlook.pst (including default Inbox, contacts, sent messages, calendar etc)
and another one for the imap account named imapaccount.pst that is basically
a cache of messages on the actual server. Everything seems to be working
fine except when a message is sent to an invalid account in the LDAP
directory. I get a message from System Administrator in the Inbox of my
Personal Folders (not the Inbox of my imap account folder that I monitor)
with subject "Undeliverable: original subject". In Outlook 2000, when a
message was sent to an invalid address in my ldap directory, it would get
stuck in my Outbox (of personal folders) and it was easy to tell that
something was wrong.
I tried to setup a rule on the Inbox of my Personal folder but strangely,
the Inbox of my personal folder does not even show up when I go under the
Rules Wizard. The Inbox of the imap account is there and I can send all the
rules that I want successfully on that Inbox. The only way I can run a rule
on the Inbox of my default personal folder (outlook.pst) is to open Rules
Wizard and choose Run Now and then pick the Inbox of my personal folder to
run a rule on. But obviously that is not practical.
Does anyone know of a way to get around this problem?
