Unexpected File Lock

Hello everyone. I am recently getting an error on one of my shared workbook.
The error is "Unexpected file lock by administrator. You can override the
file lock or continue without doing so. If you continue without overriding
the lock, you will not be able to save this file but you can use File Save As
to save your work to a diferent file. Do you want to override this lock?"
Users are using Office 2007 Excel. File is save in compatibility mode. How
do I get rid of this error? Thank You.

I am having the same problem, except I am using excel 2003. Just started
getting this error about a week ago. The problem seems to be intermittent,
but at times I have seen multiple copies of users having the file "open"
(even when they really don't have the file open). Sometimes I have seen 20
or 30 instances of "ghost" users. I have also seen duplicates of the file
being open (i.e. meaningless filename with no extension appears in the
directory of my primary file). Please help.

thank you

Thanks for your reply.

I can manually clear the users off of the list (using the remove user button
under "share workbook"), but this doesn't prevent the problem from
reoccurring. Do you know of a way to prevent this problem from persisting?

Thanks again
