Uninstall Office 2003 to get rid of Exchange Server 2003

M

Mintk3

I have Office 2000 Pro SR1, (I have key and its registered) installed and I
used Exchange Server 2003, es3, (part of software preloaded onto the
computer) to connect at work. I would now like to use Outlook on my home
computer and found Microsoft does not support I can't have both es3 and
Outlook 2000. I told work to include my home email address on all emails, so
I no longer need ES3. I don't want to screw-up my files.

Is uninstalling es3 all I have to do, or should I uninstall both and then
reinstall SR1? I do plan to upgrade to O3 and eventually to O7.

YOu don't have Exchange 2003 loaded at home as it is a server based application and only runs on Windows Servers.

As a result of the comment I tried to load Outlook 2000 from my SR1 disc and
Outlook would not load even if I was just trying to load the calendar. How
do I get rid of Exhange Server? Here is what I have that I could uninstall:
MS.net framework 1.1 and Hotfix (KB886903)
MS.net framework 2.0,
Away Mode,
Money 2005,
Office 2000 SR1 Pro Disc 1 & 2,
MS Office 2003 Edition 60 days trial welcome tour,
Office Outlook Connector,
MS Office Standard Edition 2003,
MS Works.

Is it as simple as taking out Outlook Connector?

You already have Office Standard so why are you trying to load a program 2 versions older (outlook 2000)? I don't understand how you got yourself into this situation nor how you think uninstalling Exchange server (which is NOT installed on your computer anyway) is going to get you where you want to go.

First of all, back up and tell us what you want on your computer. Office 2003 trial version should be uninstalled period. If you have Office 2003 standard full edition, it already contains Outlook. So, once again, tell us what you are trying to get to in terms of installed software and maybe someone can figure out your predicament.

After furious head scratching, Mintk3 asked:

| As a result of the comment I tried to load Outlook 2000 from my SR1
| disc and Outlook would not load even if I was just trying to load the
| calendar. How do I get rid of Exhange Server? Here is what I have
| that I could uninstall: MS.net framework 1.1 and Hotfix (KB886903)
| MS.net framework 2.0,
| Away Mode,
| Money 2005,
| Office 2000 SR1 Pro Disc 1 & 2,
| MS Office 2003 Edition 60 days trial welcome tour,
| Office Outlook Connector,
| MS Office Standard Edition 2003,
| MS Works.
|
| Is it as simple as taking out Outlook Connector?

Then uninstall Office 2003 trial version - period. You don't want or need it so it is just taking up space.

I don't believe that MSN will work with Outlook 2000 - I know for sure that Hotmail will not. YOu need Outlook 2002 or later to use Hotmail and only then if it is a paid Hotmail account.

Check with MSN help to see if it works with Outlook 2000 - my gut feeling is that it does not.

I do know for sure that the connector is for Outlook 2003 so get rid of that.
