Don, I just looked again under add/remove and I see Windows XP Office with
front page, which is 504 mb. I guess this means that it is still active on
this computer. Obviously when I installed MO 2003 S/T edition, I did not
answer the questions properly. Should I stay with Windows XP office and go
with MO 2003? Are there big differences in the two. Or should I uninstall
MO
2003 and reinstall it getting rid of Windows XP Office with Front Page? I
am
so scared to do any of this stuff as I do not have the Windows XP cd, but
I
have the MO 2003 cd. Please help me out here and thank you so much. I have
reading all kinds of stuff on yours message boards, and looking in my
computer, but I am nervous to do anything. Thanks, Clorey
Lets start back with some basic.
Windows XP is an operating system. Windows XP does not include Office
XP.
Office XP is a collection of applications Microsoft has developed under
the Office classification. Microsoft has other application classifications
outside of Office. For example, mapping applications such as Streets and
Trips or programming applications such as Visual Studio.
From what you describe, you did answer all the question correctly and all
Office XP application except Front Page have been removed from your computer
Front Page is an application for creating web sites. If you have no need
for Front Page 2002, you can safely deleted it using Add/Remove Programs
without any repeat any impact on your Office 2003 Students and Teachers
installation. PLESE NOTE: to delete Front Page 2002 you will need the
Office XP CD {not the Windows XP CD} that contains Front Page. I suspect it
is CD number 2 of the Office XP installation CDs.
If you do not have the Office XP CD, you cannot delete Front Page {without
much problems}. If you do not delete Front Page there will only be a minor
problem with your computer If you go to Office Update you may be offered an
update to Front Page {or more likely Office XP}. Do not accept the update
as you will not be able to install it without the Office XP CDs.
IMO.
If you have the Office XP CDs and have no need of Front Page to create/edit
web sites, then delete Front Page 2002.
If you do not have the Office XP CDs, leave Front Page alone and do not try
to install any Office XP updates.
There are other options. However, from your post most will not be easy for
you. If your Office XP was a retail purchase {not a preinstalled OEM {by
your computer vendor}} and you do not have the Office XP CD, Microsoft
offers low cost replacements {essentially shipping}. See:
Microsoft Retail Software
Lost, Broken or Stolen

If you do not have the Office XP CDs and your Office XP was pre-installed by
your computer vendor, you need to call their support for replacements CDs.
