unread counter incrementing but emails not being shown in outlook

I have outlook 2007 on vista ultimate. I am using pop to recieve emails.
When i receive new emails the unread count for the folder will increment,
however when i navigate to the folder the unread messages don't show up.
Usually i will show one or two, but it had downloaded 30 or so. If i search
for messages that have been delivered today they show up, but once again if i
navigate back to the folder normally they still don't show up. This is a big
issue due to the fact that my business relys on me getting my messages.

Does your Unread Mail foler show them? If so, what folder does it say
they're in?
