unreadable .pst file

dwass

I just recovered a deleted .pst file from my hard drive.
When I try to import it into outlook, a get a message
that first says that "properties for this information
service must be defined prior to use." Then I click Ok
adn get a warning message that the file is not a personal
folders file. Is there any way to view/repair the file?

First, make sure the file isn't marked read-only. If it's on a CD, move it
to your hard drive and remove the read-only attribute.

Also, don't import the file -- just open it from within Outlook, using File
| Open | Outlook Data File (or Personal Folders File). You'll retain the
most data and custom settings by re-using the file instead of importing from
it. Import and export should only be used when you need to move data to or
from another program.
