Say a task was assign to a team menber, but he is so busy that cannot handle
the daily update the task through project web assess. In this case, as a
project manager, I assign the task to him and his staff which seem that both
of them can update the task. Now the problem happen, either one of them
update the task to 100% but eventually, the task only finish 50%. It means
that it should be update to 100% for bothe of them.
For my case, can anyone can give me an advice to allow either of them update
the task to 100% that the task will automatically to be 100%?

Thank you very much

I'm not a server guru but I think your problem stems from assigning the task
to more than one resource when only one of them will actually be working on
it. If I haver a task that has a duration of 5 days and I assign it to both
Joe and Bill, that means that EACH of the two resources must do 5 days
worthof work on it, 10 days total, in order for the task to be completed.
Now if only one of them updates the task and shows it complete, it's only
updating his half of the work, The other resource's 5 days of work remains
to be done and so the task will only show 50% Work Complete. Perhaps the
best solution is to tell your resource he has to make time in his day to
take care of the paperwork <grin>.

If either one updates their assignment as 100%, I assume that this means the
task is complete. Therefore, you should use the following process:

1. Accept and update the task progress from PWA into the Microsoft Project
plan
2. Click OK and then click Collaborate - Publish - All Information
3. Select the task and click Window - Split
4. In the Task Form (bottom pane), right-click and select the Resource Work
details
5. Set the Remaining Work to 0 hours for the team member who did not report
6. Click OK
7. Click Window - Remove Split
8. Click Collaborate - Publish - All Information

Hope this helps.
