Update %Complete between identical tasks in linked projects?

I have a large master project file, where I have tried to link specific
milestone tasks in this large file to identical tasks in smaller
projects--this is necessary so I can have one large project file but also
have individual project presentations at various meetings. It appears that
when I update the master file the start/finish dates and durations in the
smaller project files also change, but I would also like the %Complete to
update in the smaller project files whenever a change is made to the large
file. Is this possible?

Jeff,
How exactly are you linking the files? It sounds like you may be using
external predecessors/successors and that certainly is one way to link
tasks between files but it will not provide the type of updating you
want.

The most common form of master file is created by opening a new blank
file and then going to Insert/Project to insert one or more subproject
files. This creates a dynamically consolidated master wherein the master
and subprojects are linked and changes in either are reflected in the
other, including changes to the % Complete field. Please note though
that the subproject files are not physically a part of the master,
rather, the master simply contains a pointer to each of the individual
subprojects. Basically, the master lets you view and make changes to
multiple files at once.

Hope this helps.
