Update template Fields from VBA.

I'm a seasoned programmer however new to VBA for Word. I have some dat
in Excel that I used to create MailMerge document in Word from VB
source (ie. create a blank MailMerge and add all the text throug
source). This works fine.

What I would like to do now is create a Word template with Fields (o
whatever defines places where data should be copied from Excel) so tha
any one can modify the look and feel and the text of the template and
could retain my data placeholders.

Basically, if I had addresses in the excel file, i would like to open
word template and just update all the fields.

I need a pointer in the right direction. Is MailMerge the right thin
to use? I made it work, but is it the proper way to go about this? Do
use Fields as my data placeholders in Word? If so, what kind? How do
update teh Fields from VBA? Is there a HOWTO and some simple example
on how to do this?

Thanks in advance!
