Upgrading from MS Works 9.0 to MS Office 2007

Getting ready to order new laptop with MS Works 9.0 and want to upgrade to MS
Office Standard 2007. Was told that I can purchase 2007 Office Standard
upgrade since I previously had a licensed copy of MS Office 2000 Pro on
another computer.

How does this type of upgrade work as far as installation is concerned? Do
you simply install the 2007 upgrade and somewhere during the installation
process you are prompted and asked for product key of Office 2000?

When you install the 2007 upgrade, you will be asked for the qualifying
product, at which point you will remove the 2007 disk, insert the Office
2000 disk and follow the prompts.

MS Works 9 is also a qualifying product for Office 2007, however it may be
neccessary to install Works updates before you can use this as a qualifying
product, as there was a documented bug in the Works files, which prevents
Office 2007 upgrade from validating your entitlement.
