Upgrading from Office Student version to Pro - question

Hi,

The Principal at my son's school has Office Student/Teacher 2003 version on
her desktop PC. She wants to upgrade to the Office Pro version. I tried to
install the Pro version but an error came up suggesting that an upgrade to
this version would not work (or files that the installation process was
looking for could not be found, I'm assuming what was meant was a legal
Office version already installed). I then uninstalled the Student/Teacher
version and tried the Pro version again. The installation process still would
not work.

This computer runs on XP and has other MS software on it such as Works. So,
it seems that it should upgrade to the Pro version. Just not sure what to try
next.

Any suggestions area appreciated. Thanks.

I might be missing something else.

I'm not sure yet what version of Works she has on the PC, but I will check.
What about this option too; she had an older Office version (I think 2002)
before installing the Student/Teacher version. Could I uninstall the ST
version and reinstall the 2002 version, then upgrade to the Professional
version? Just a thought.

Don't install it, just "show" it to the Office 2003 installation routine
when it asks - put it in the CD drive, allow Office 2003 to verify it and
then put back in your Office 2003 installation disk.
