upgrading office trial edition 2003 to professional edition 2003

hi,
I have with me an office trial edition that came along with my laptop
default software. I recently bought office 2003 professional edition to
upgrade the trial edition. I am experiencing two problems.
1. As the trial period is over, iam not able to open any word file. so , i
am trying to upgrade it. but, when i enter the 25 digit key, it says invalid
key and kicking me out and preventing me from opening any office file.
2. So, i tried to install office directly from the office-pro 2003 cd. Even
after doing that, i cant open any word file as its not able to recognise the
newly installed office-pro. its still asking me to enter the 25 digit key as
in the case 1.
should i completely uninstall the trial version and then go for the
office-pro ? or is there any other way to get around this situation ? i dont
find any solution to this in the microsoft website.
any help would be appreciated.
thanks.

DL you are talking rubbish. You don't have to uninstall anything. Just follow the instructions given in these articles:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;328874

http://www.petri.co.il/change_the_serial_in_windows_xp.htm

The second link also contains instructions to change Office Serial number specifically.

Hope this helps.

Uninstall the trial, prior to installing retail version

I use non Microsoft products wherever possible which requires no activation.

I use Netscape 7.2 as my default browser which has everything I need for my work.

I believe in good Financial Management!! I do not believe in enriching rich jerks!
