use normal.dot as a template

When opening a new doc I get a page with no top margin. The ruler is
completely on the top and bottom edges.
Mind you, I HAVE deleted all normal.dot files while WORD was closed and I
still get that weird page when opening a new document.

This setting is held in the registry.

Select Tools > Options > View > White space between pages

.. or .. hover the mouse around the top of the page until the cursor icon
changes to alittle piccy meant to show the gap between two pages with a
couple of arrowheads to indicate closing or opening the gap - and click
there.
