Using My Task or My Timesheet or both

Hi,

Context:
To record hours, the resources record hours in the timesheet.
1\Record hours
2\Save and submit.
3\Import timesheet in my Tasks.
4\Select the tasks and save and submit.

Request:
I see it's possible to permit resource to record hours directly in my Tasks
by choosing the appropriate option in server settings.
In that case I don't see the difference between My Tasks and My Timesheet.

So I don't understand why I should continu to use the timeseheet and import
hours in tasks before to be submitted.

----Conclusion Discussion about this point on another newsgroup Project
general and advise to continu the thread here---------------
In my previous project with EPM, the project manager and resource manager
are the same (dont need TS and Task) I miss the parameter fiscal hours by
weeks and that's why I should use the timesheet but it's general this
parameter.
And it's not match my business need because some people work 38.5 hours,
other 40 hours, other 35 hours.
--------------------------------------------------------------

So before to change the policy in the entreprise, I want to be sure to
really understand the difference between record hours in TS and My Tasks.

What is your point of view?

Hi Alex,

Why are you using timesheets? Is there a reason for this? Is this just be
for Admin Time or are timesheets required within your organisation? If not
then using My Tasks alone is fine.

As you have noted, timesheets / my tasks are independant of each other and
no progress on any tasks in the timesheets are reported back to the Project
Plan until the timesheet is importorted into My tasks.
