Using Office XP on two computers

D

Doug

I have two computers in my home that are linked in a
network. One computer has Office XP Standard installed
but not the second computer. Can I install the Office XP
Standard disk in my second computer so we can share and
change Word files and Excell files? Must I buy another
full version of Office XP Standard for the second computer?

Cerridwen,

This will sound stupid...BUT, I'd like to get it clarified in my mind. My
lap top just crashed. Does the quote, "In addition, if it came with your
computer, it is tied to the first system and may not be installed on any
other" mean the Office XP disks (never opened in their case) that came with
it are worthless and I can't use them on a new system?

1. are the numbers on the CD case (the product key) the ones
used to install the software ? (if it hasn't been stuck on
th elaptop)

2 Is there a sticker on the laptop that shows the product
key ? is it different from that on the CD case (or is it the
one from the CD case / packet)

If yes to 1,. I guess it is if it is OEM software
If yes to 2, perhaps not as technically it may not have
actually been installed
