Using Offline data connections

Hey all:

having a problem with secondary data connections when offline.

I have configured each of the data connections to "Store a copy of the data
in the form template" and "automatically retrieve data when the form is
opened".
I have configured the offline form options to "Allow users to fill out this
form if data is unavailable" and "Store data returned from queries so it can
be used in Offline Mode."
I have configured Advanced Options to "Cache queries for use in Offline
mode"

now the problem

when i open the form while online, is see the current data from my
SharePoint lists.
if i then go offline, i don't see the same data. what i do see is the data
that existed at the time i set up the data connection. if i rerun the
wizard on each data connection and republish the form, i now see the correct
data when offline.

this does not seem correct.
should it cache the results from the queries that were made when filling out
the from while online and use them when filling out the form while offline?
