Hello.

I work in a medical office. We have Office 2000. We already have an office
program, but recently another medical practitioner has joined the office, but
we can't use our program for him. Rather than actually having to write
appointments in a book, I thought I would see if the Outlook Calendar could
do this. I have created a contact list. I can just go ahead and type in a
person's appt., and I use their name in the subject line, but what I'd really
like to do is have the calendar recognize every appt. made for a certain
person, and show me all their past appts. I know this isn't the right program
for what I'm doing, but that's we have right now.
Is there another way I should be booking these medical appointments instead
of the way I'm doing it?

I appreciate any and all help.

Thanks so much.

Outlook really isn't the best for medical scheduling.

You can use the Activities tab on the contact to identify past appointments
or use Find or Advanced find. To use Activities you need to link their
contact with the appointment - click on the contacts tab at the bottom of
the form and select the proper contact.

Hi, Diane,

Yes, I do realize this isn't the best program for it, but I would like to see
if I can make it work, due to the fact that it's all I have. The trouble with
the Activities tab, is that you can't choose Past Appts., only upcoming ones.
Oh, well, I'll just carry on.

Thanks for your help, Diane.

Activities should include all appointments as long as you aren't archiving
them - they you need to add the archive pst to the profile and include it in
activities but the archived items will be on a different 'page' from the
current ones.

Hi, Diane,

I think I've worked out the best way to do this for me. I'll enter their
appts. by choosing the Contact person, then Tools, then New Task. I'll enter
a time in the "subject" field. I'll also have to customize the view of task
list, and add "contact" to one of the tasklist headings. That way the
person's name is entered, and remembered. That way I seem to be able to see a
list of all recorded "tasks".
Whew! What a task!

Cheers.
