Using outlook with Virgin as my ISP

R

RC

I have just signed up to virgin as my ISP. I have Outlook on my PC but it
can't send/receive emails and I guess needs setting up. Can this be done and
how do I do it.
The reason for wanting to use outlook is that I understand my phone, via my
bluetooth link, can download the contacts list which will save me a lot of
typing. Is there any advice I can get on how to do that successfully.

Thanks

Hello RC, you wrote on Thu, 25 Aug 2005 05:46:48 -0700:

Ask your ISP for the mail settings!
type my message where?
Here?
I am having trouble setting up my three Blueyonder email addresses (are they
"identities" or "accounts" or "mailboxes"?) on my new laptop. They worked on
the old one. Virgin will not help because they "don't support Outlook", only
Outlook Express. I've spent hours on the phone, but keep getting error
messages. So who can help? Is it possible to phone Microsoft?

The settings for outlook are almost identical to those for outlook
express - the screens may be different but its usually easy to figure
them out.

What are the error messages?

What are the specific error messages? Those errors are the key to the
problem, knowing the entire message would be helpful.

I do use Outlook, not O. Express. I have entered the correct settings but am
stll being asked repeatedly for my password. Emails from my default address
work but sometimes not the aliases and I can't tell which is which because
they all appear as pop3.blueyonder... rather than their names as previously.
error message is: ... Ox800ccc92 your email server rejected your login ...
logon failure unknown user name or bad password...

You need to check what servers you're sending through. Go into the
properties of each account. It sounds as though you're trying to
authenticate to blueyonder instead of Virgin.
