USING THE ENTER KEY.....

i am almost done with our employment application. Sent it off to have
co-workers test it and give feedback. One issue that came back was if there
is a way applicants can use the ENTER key to go from field to field instead
of using the TAB key. I would like to know this as well. Just a coupe notes:

1. I have never used a macro--not even familiar with them. The form has none.

2. I'm using Word 2000, if a person with any version of Word of than what i
have, will they experience problems when filling in the form?

Hi,

What you are talking about is what Word calls an "online form." Check this
in help. For more about online forms, follow the links at
http://addbalance.com/word/wordwebresources.htm#Forms or
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/FillinTheBlanks.htm especially Dian
Chapman's series of articles. You may also want to look at
http://www.word.mvps.org/FAQs/TblsFldsFms/LinesInForms.htm. Reading these
articles will take some time, but in the long run it will save you a lot of
time.

One of the links is for a macro to make the Enter key move to the next field
instead of inserting a paragraph. This does require macros in your form's
template. http://www.gmayor.com/installing_macro.htm

Now is a good a time as any to start learning some vba. It lets you really
fine-tune Word.

Your form should work in any version of Word since Word 97 but be careful of
the tables you use. Nested tables will be scrambled if the form is opened in
Word 97! You can get a demonstration of this at
http://addbalance.com/word/downloads.htm. You may want to change your save
settings to disable features introduced after Word 97.

Hope this helps,
