Are there vba commands for controlling ppt during a presentation. I
wanted to do the following things:

1) go to the next slide, or jump to an arbitrary slide
2) an onscreen timer to monitor automatic slide transitions

Thank you for any help

To make a presentation go to another slide, or jump to an arbitrary slide,
you can go to Slide Show > Custom Shows. In Custom Shows, click on New and
add the order of the slides you want.

If you want the presentation to proceed automatically,
Then go to Slide Show > Slide Transition. Under Advance section, uncheck the

1) go to the next slide, or jump to an arbitrary slide
SlideshowWindows(1).View.Next takes you to the next build/slide in the slide
show.

2) an onscreen timer to monitor automatic slide transitions
Not very sure what exactly this is for.

Re. slide timer: There is no such function in PPT. Last year I wrote a vba
code for displaying the time lapsed since the start of the slide show and
updated at every slide change. It is posted on David Marcovitz's web page,
imbedded into another code for vibrating string simulation. Perhaps you can
use it or it can steer you in the right direction. If you have any problems
with it post a question in this group. I will be back here this Sunday night.

You probably want to start with the Programming PowerPoint section of the
PPT FAQ:

You can get JanAdam's example (as well as several other examples of
interest) at the "Examples From Real People" section of my Web site:
