how do I verify ownership on google? I published a site using publisher 2007
and netfirms, but now I'm trying to get the seach engines to find it.
Verification: Meta tagPrint
This is the best option if you're using an content system such as Blogger.
Webmaster Tools provides the meta tag in XHTML syntax, but you can change it
to HTML; either way will work.

On the Webmaster Tools Home page, click Verify this site next to the site
you want.
In the Verification method list, select Meta tag, and follow the steps on
your screen.
Once you've added the tag to your home page, click Verify.

We'll verify that the meta tag exists in the correct location. If we can't
find the tag, we'll give you information about the error we encountered. Once
this problem is resolved, try to verify your site again.

or
Verification: HTML filePrint
To verify your site by uploading an HTML file:

On the Webmaster Tools Home page, click Verify next to the site you want.
In the Choose verification method list, select Upload an HTML file, and
follow the steps on your screen.
Upload the file to your webserver to the location we specify. Generally,
this is the root folder for your site. Note: Don't make any changes to name
or content of the file.
Confirm the successful upload by clicking the link provided.
Once you have uploaded the file and can open it, click Verify. We will
verify that the file exists in the specified location. If we can't access the
file, we'll give you information about the error we encountered. Once this
problem is resolved, try to verify your site again.

So what is your question? You copy and pasted the directions on how to
verify ownership. It is not easy to add the meta tag to a Publisher web page
but uploading the html file to your host root directory should be easy
enough.

....AND it still will take a while for your web to get spidered...sometimes
days, weeks, or even months.
