vertical rules?

Sara

I am a fairly new FrontPage user and cannot find any
information in the user guide on making verical lines.
I've tried giving a cell a background color, but I can't
get the cell to be narrow enough to look like a line
instead of a box. Any ideas? (If it makes a difference, I
will not have a set height for the rule. I need it to
expand as the page lengthens.)

I've also had trouble with horizontal rules. Is there any
way to bring the edges of the cell directly above and
below the line, instead of at the height of what the text
would be? It makes the contents of my cells too far apart.

Thank you all so much!

I only have one issue with this. Why not make the transparent gif 1 pixel
square? It would be a smaller file.

not sure there'd be much differnce :) Remember reading somewhere that some
browsers have trouble with images only 1 pixel square - could be wrong on
that tho.

Jon,

Thank you so much for your speedy advice. I got it to
work, but I changed the cell size to 1 pixel in cell
properties and it didn't actually change the cell's size
for me. I had to maually move in the edges of the cell
until the line previewed at 1 pixel. It's still defined as
1 pixel in cell properties. Do you think it will be okay?

Thanks again,
Sara

Hi,
yes - as long as you have the image in the cell set to 1 pixel wide. It's
the image that makes the cell 1 pixel wide - not the width of the cell

That rings a bell. Though I have the additional bit of "in tiled
situations". So a 1x1 is probably not such a good idea as a BG image of
some sort, but is just fine to use to space a cell or table.

A version of NS, had problems with image of less than 6 x 6 pixels.

No, Jon, not much difference. Just stuck me as odd. I'll accept your
explanation. :)
