Video into PPT

I've read everything on this matter. I've tried to insert a video file into PPT Office XP. The file plays in Winows Media Player just fine. So in PPT I go "insert, movies and sounds, from file". When I click on the video file I get this " cannot display this type of sound or movie". So I try the insert object and edit the video for windows and get this : there is no driver installed on your system". Anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Thanks!

PowerPoint doesn't use Windows Media Player. The test you want to do is go to
Start > Run and type mplay32.exe (for Win 2000 and XP) and then open the video
file. If it doesn't run in mplay32.exe it won't run in PowerPoint. Your
problem is possibly because you have installed another player like Real One and
it has modified your MCI settings and replaced a driver setting. See
http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/multimedia.htm and read through
section 3 in particular. Toward the end of that section are lists of what your
settings should be. Find the ones for your version of Windows and compare them
to the settings on your system.
