View notes during presentation?

PowerPoint's help doesn't explain how to bring up
a "Notes" view on the computer screen while displaying a
presentation via the video out.

I saw an explanation of how to set this up, but forget
where it's located in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.

This is only possible if you have a multiple monitor
setup. So in fact you control more then one monitor.Then
you are able to show the presentation on one screen (and
have it doubled on the TV-out; and have the normal view
with speaker notes on hte other (P.S. That's how I do it
on PPT2000)

Thanks, Bill.

I read the articles. I have a laptop with an ATI board
and I'm set up for dual monitors.

BUT - I can't get PowerPoint 2000 to recognize that I
have them.
- There is no "Show On..." button in the Slideshow
dropdown menu.
- There is no button to add from the "Customize" menu.
- When I cycle through my monitor options ([Function]-
[F3] on my Compaq laptop) I don't seem to have a second
monitor active, even though it's listed in my hardware
setup (desktop - right-click - properties - appearance -
advanced).

Any other suggestions?

There are "two" versions of multiple monitor support on a laptop.
1 = ability to mirror content to a secondary monitor. This is the "fake"
multiple monitor support.
2 = ability to mirror content to a secondary monitor OR to extend your
desktop so each monitor has independent/different content. This is the
"real" multiple monitor support and what is needed to accomplish what you
are looking to do.

To check, go to the properties panel (right click on desktop >> PROPERTIESselect "extend desktop..." If not your video card supports mirroring only
(#1), if yes your computer supports #2.
