Viewing Wordart/Graphics

Word no longer displays graphics (or wordart) - just handles for the boxes!
Why?

In Word, click on Tools | Options | View tab | check the "Drawings" box and
uncheck the "Picture placeholders" box | Print tab | check the "Drawing
objects" box | OK.

I've had the same problem. Most, but not all of my pics in word 2002 are
blank. I've done everything in the troubleshooting, like placeholders. I've
got every update and driver. Still no luck. Funny thing, when I update the
pic, such as by moving it to the front of the text, it reappears, that is
until I scroll away and scroll back to find it blank again. I disabled my
new video card, a nvidia 5600 le (I think) and the pics were fine again.
What is going on?? I hope my card isn't incompatible with word... that would
be awful. Any ideas? Nothing in the troubleshooting worked, and all updates
and drivers are in.

Try reducing your display adapter's hardware acceleration setting in
Start | Control Panel | Display | Properties | Advanced.
