Virtual PC or VMWare

Greetings:

We are about to try almost exactly this. We will have the
SQL server on one box, the SQL storage on our SAN, and the
PRoject Server itself on a virtual server on VMWare.

I will hopefully be able to advise by week's end if this
worked.

Hi,
Has anyone put up a full production single box
environment of Windows 2003, MS Project 2003 Server, WSS,
IIS, and SQL Server on VMWare (not Virtual PC 2004)? I
would like to discover the issues and risks associated
with this as a customer of mine has an IT team that wants
to save on purchase of two additional servers. They plan
to provide PWA to up to 250 users and 25 PMs. I might add
that this is a Novell domain directory environment.

I see that you mentioned putting your SQL storage on your SAN. We are planning doing the exact same thing minus the VMware. We are planning a two server configuration (possibly upgrading from 2002 to 2003 during the process) and migrating the SQL Db to our SAN. Have you encountered any bandwidth issues with having the Db residing on the SAN? We have an EMC with a 1gigbit fiber backbone and are currenlty running three Oracle databases on it. I can't imagine that this will be a problem however I'd love to hear from someone who's already done it. One more thing we are also on Novell NDS with NT for NDS authentication so we've had to work throught those issues already. Any information you can share will be greatly appciated.
