Visio 7 Functional Bands

P

Patricia Lynch

Using functional bands along left side of flaw chart which flows left to
right. It would be great if I could lock those bands on the left of the page
while the "swim lanes" are allowed to move- some of these flow charts are
lengthy. So far can't find documentation to suggest this can be done. Anyone
out there know anything about this?
thank you

I think that you are asking if the page can be extended to the right, and
then the functional bands too?
If so, then the answer is Yes.
You can do this manually by holding down the control key whilst clicking
down on the right edge of the page and dragging to the right.
Similarly, you can select the Horizontal holde and drag the green box at the
middle of the right edge to the right.

In excel, for example, you can freeze columns and rows such that they are
always displayed in a fixed position on the screen, while the remaining
columns and rows can be scrolled. That's what I'm looking to do in Visio.
Freeze the functional band while allowing the rest of the flow chart to
scroll.

The closest I think you can come to this behavior would be to display the
diagram using two windows. Go to Window > New Window and then Window >
Tile. From there you will probably have to resize the windows and change
zoom levels to show exactly what you want.
