visual reports for work usage

Hello,

I am trying to make charts for each individual project within my master
project to show the distribution of resources within the specfic project. If
I could make a chart for each resource showing the projects the are assigned
to and the work availability they have left that would work as well. I also
need to only show this quarter. Please help! All I am able to do thus far
is show the total work for every resource in one chart without specification
of project. To add to the frustration I cannot get it to show not in number
of hours but percentage. Any suggestions and comments would really be
appreciated!

This is a tricky one, you may not be able to do everything you want to.
You could plot each individual project separately (from outside the Master
file). That would give you whatever you can plot on the Resource Graph.

To change the items on the Resource graphs, right click on the graph and you
will be able to select items such as Work/Unit availability, %Allocation,
Work, Remaining availability.

In the end, you will have one graph for each resource for each project.
That could be a pile of paper. After playing with it some, I was unable to
make the graph do much more than that.

Now, let's address the "by Project" issue. I don't think you will be able
to use the graph. Instead, try this. Go to the Resource Usage View.
Insert a Column called Project (it will give you the name of the file from
its properties for each task).

On the Right pane, change the time scale to something convenient by right
clicking and selecting timescale. In that same pane there will be a column
of details --- usually Work is the default. Double click that and then map
the additional variables you want displayed.

Now, you want to create a Customized Grouping. You can do that with
Project/Group By/Customized Group By.... Your sort order is Name then by
Project Click OK. You will probably have to make some adjustements.

You should now have a customized grouping of the Resource Usage View. What
you should see is the Resouce Name in Yellow, followed by Project1,
Project2... Underneath each Project, you would see the individual
assignments of that resource on that project (by task).

You can collapse to the level of detailed needed, perhaps Show/Outline
Level2.

See what that does for you, post back if you need additional help.
