want to add resources & work

I can't find a way to do what I want w/o Project interjecting wrong
assumptions: I'm setting up a new project. Many tasks have 2 or 3 people on
them. Conceptually, one task will take it's main assignee 30 hours, and I
want to add 2 other people who will each add 6 hours time. To me, the
duration is 30 hours still - as my project executes, it's how this will play
out. But when I add these other 2 people, Project keeps decreasing duration,
instead of keeping duration the same and adding 6 hours apiece to 'work'.
The end result I want is Person 'A' 30 hours, Person 'B' 6 hours, Person 'C'
6 hours ... all working within a 30 hour duration on a single task. How do I
set this up? The logic of about half my tasks fit this situation.

Hi Betty,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Project is using its effort driven facility where the more resources you
add, the shorter the Duration. Have a look at my series on Microsoft
Project in the TechTrax ezine, particularly #10 & 11 on Multiple Resources &
Task Types, at this site: http://tinyurl.com/2xbhc or this:
http://pubs.logicalexpressions.com/Pub0009/LPMFrame.asp?CMD=ArticleSearch&AUTH=23
(Perhaps you'd care to rate the articles before leaving the site, :)
Thanks.)

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: <http://www.mvps.org/project/>

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)
