It's quite clear that Aaron never worked for Microsoft, even as a
contractor. Microsoft doesn't hire stupid people.

That is - for better or worse - not an option on the public newsgroups. The
microsoft.public newsgroups are based on the msnews microsoft server, but are
hosted on thousands of non-Microsoft news servers worldwide. Microsoft has no
authority over these servers, and there is no moderator for the newsgroups in
any case. Even if there were, these other servers could choose to accept or
ignore cancel requests.

d) DAO is not dead at all, in fact it has been given new life by
Microsoft with the new direction they've established for the Jet
database engine in A2K7, and DAO users cannot do the anatomically
impossible, any more than Aaron can (well, Aaron *does* seem to have
his head up his ass, so maybe not).

Make MS start acting like a grownup company and stop propping up an
obsolete database

MDB is dead. I've posted Microsoft Employees making official quotes
that say that MDB has been obsolete for 10 years.

ADP is superior technology.
Maybe if these MDB script kids would lose the training wheels and STFU
then maybe -- just maybe-- we could start having constructive debate.

But as it is-- i never claimed to currently work FOR microsoft

I've developed more MDB applications that anyone else on this channel.
And I realized what a CRAP architecture it was like TEN YEARS AGO and
I really commited to Access Data Projects.

ADP are a much much simpler application-- ESPECIALLY for newbie
developers.

You don't need to worry about linking and importing and frontend/
backend

ADP is plug and play.

MDB is a piece of crap; it doesn't work over WAN, VPN, Wireless or the
Public Internet.

ADP is _WONDERFUL_; it _DOES_ work _FLAWLESSLY_ over WAN, VPN,
Wireless or the Public Internet.
and ADP doesn't have random locking problems.

anyone using MDB linked to SQL should be shot.. MDB _ROYALLY_ screws
up a decent SQL Server. MDB scans the whole table to the MDB file and
it's awful performance

Sprocs are 100 times more powerful than MDB queries.
I mean seriously here.

I have avoided this thread for several days, but in doing a search I
see that several posts have been directed to me. I suppose it would
be bad manners not to answer.

I access this group through Google and mistakenly thought it was a
Google Group. My bad. Thanks to those who pointed our my error.

I too find a some things I don't like about some Microsoft Software
and would not mind discussing them but not like this. Aaron, or
whoever you are, I think you might have some valid points to make,
some of which I find interesting. Perhaps your ideas would be given
greater consideration if you would write more politely. Your present
way of communicating is, IMHO, ruining your credibility. As the old
saying goes, "You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar." I
am not tying to bash you, just trying to be helpful.

PS: I have never worked for Microsoft. I do not sell Microsoft
products, although I use some of them. I am not a professional
Software anything. I just develop part time.

but the IDE isn't compatible; the language doesn't run in 3/4s of the
places that I used MSFT on a daily basis.

And the IDE is too slow to use.

I think that I've been personally reasonable in light of these facts.

But a company that assaults employees / contractors-- and fires them
FOR USING CAPITAL LETTERS does not get my vote any longer.

A company that prohibits FREE SPEECH by censoring my posts deserves to
fry in HELL.
