Web Page Resize

Hi,

I'm just about half way through my web design and realized that I created it
@ 1024x768 resolution. It looks good without having to scroll up or down or
left or right. Then I remembered that in the past any site I made in that
resolution will look to big at a smaller resolution.

Is there a way to make the page look and fit in a window at any resolution
without the need for scrolling? (Sort of have the page adjust automatically
to the resolution set on any individual computer). I really don't want to
have to do it over again... especially the graphic part of it.

Thank you,
John Bordieri

John,

I don't have that answer right now, but I'm putting a new website
together and have the same issue. I'm actually creating a web graphic
in Photoshop, then implimenting hot spots for the links. I created the
background to be 1280x1024, and the main graphic (site) to be 1024x768.
Seemed like the most common resolutions at this point. Anyone surfing
at 800x600 or lower would have to be a dial-up occassional surfer. Let
me know if you find a solution. BTW, here is my site:

In case it helps, here are some stats on monitor resolution. I think your
guess is right.

NOTE: I can't tell *exactly* how up-to-date this material is ... I don't
think it was long ago. (mentions some 2004 programs, etc.)

From:

Viewer Statistics
a.. There are more than 40 different screen resolutions.
b.. 1024x768 is the most popular resolution used (getting the lions share
of around 60%) followed by 1280x1024 and above (around 25%) and 800x600
(around 14%). 98% of users have 800x600 and above resolution, thus, 800x600
can be taken as the minimum resolution the site should fit (other lower
resolution are seldom used).

Steve.....

your site pages (most) are too big~ lots of blank black below the main
oval image... that main Oval image withyour links in it - should be all
that gets seen... maybe a little scrolling up n down , but the page
should end directly below the images. "home" button not working on the
samples page!)
Constructive advice only :)
as for the resolution question........
I spotted an answer "somewhere", where it was mentioned you should
create the site at the higher resolution, and it'll be ok for other
resolutions.. but !! I recall seeing one saying the opposite! :) but
from experience - I'd try the first option - set your own resolution up
to the higher level - make the site, even a test one.. then see what it
looks like when you change res down to a lowere setting.
