Webpage counters

I am using FrontPage 2002

I have a rather basic website with standard side bar navigation links.

Can I add a webpage counter using frontpage itself, or must I use one
available via websites on the internet?

If your site is hosted on a server with FrontPage extensions you can use the
hit counter feature in FrontPage.
It's in the Insert > Web Component menu.
