What do I do if i download a file and I cant read the encoding an.

I downloaded a file and tried to open it in word but I cant read the
encoding. I tried all of the encodings and none of them will work... What
do i do?

Ask the supplier of the file what format it is saved in and use the
application that created it to open it.
