I dont know if this is unreasonable but I want to know what Project is
capable of doing. One of you professionals out there can just give me a
basic summary of what project can do.. If this is too lengthy of a question
please let me know, I have project books that I can just read but I wanted to
hear from the pro's, the project veterans, on what they find the best use for
Microsoft Project.

If it helps I work for a office furniture company, we do large corporate
installation projects, ie meet with customer, fill out forms, choose
furniture, install furniture etc....

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve,

Project should be able to cope easily with scheduelling all of your tasks as
you describe. However, as you will be using a server, try posting on the
server newsgroup. Please see FAQ Item: 24. Project Newsgroups. FAQs,
companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at this
web address: http://www.mvps.org/project/.

Project is only a tool. It is capable of different things in different
people's hands. I don't think that there is an easy answer to this. One
might as well ask what excel can be used for. Certainly project can be used
for scheduling and tracking projects. If that is what you want to do, then
it is generally capable of doing it.

Think of Project plus any add-ons you use as an information system for your
projects. Start with working out what information you need to learn. From
there you can work out what information you need to input and to what degree
of precision to get the answers you say you want. Never forget: Garbage In
Garbage Out (GIGO).
