What is the difference b/w "importing" and "inserting" an Excel ch

There are different instructions for "importing" vs. "inserting" an Excel
chart. What is the distinction between the two terms? I simply want to add an
Excel chart, but wonder what advantage there is to following the instructions
for "importing" versus "inserting."
