When assigning multiple resources to a task with different percent

Hi

My PM has assigned two resources to a task with different percentage such as
Resource A: 120%; Resource B: 54%. When the PM sets the start date and
finish date, he found out that their finish dates are diffrent. On the
project gantt, only the late finish date(7/11/08) is shown, but if you go
into an individual, the finish date for Resource B is "6/30/08." How does
this get calculated? Is there any ways to make the Resource B's finish date
"7/11/08," as well?

A Task
Resource A: 120%; Start Date: 4/25/08; Finish Date; 7/11/08

Resource B: 54%; Start Date: 4/25/08; Finish Date; 6/30/08

Can anyone help me why this is happening?
Thank you in advance.

Sounds like your tasks are fixed work so the assignment finish date is
calculated based on the start date and the amount of work assigned to each
resource. The Finish date for the task is the latest finish date of the
assignments.

You can force Resource B's finish date to the later date by either assigning
additional work to Resource A in order to increase the duration or changing
the task type to fixed duration. Another option, albeit not a best practice
in my mind, is to set the constraint on the task such that the task must
finish on a certain date. I don't like using constraints b/c it makes it hard
to adjust the schedule later. But it really depends on why you're wanting the
assignment finish date moved out as to which method you should use.

Hi Angel,

Just like you said, the task was set with "fixed work." I have suggested
your options below, but he did not want to change the task type nor assign
additional work. I guess if we assign one resource to one task, we do not
have to worry about it but we do assign several resources to a task.... I
guess he needs to work around.

Thank you very much for your supportfor your support.
